“The onslaught that the sexual liberals waged against feminists divided the women’s movement. Liberal feminists, who had long benefited from alliances with sexually liberated men on the issue of abortion, were frightened by the attacks, and many tried to distance themselves from their more radical feminist sisters. Socialist feminists, who have historically remained distant from the feminist campaigns against prostitution, rape, sexual abuse, and pornography, now turned liberal in theory as well. Radical feminists continued their work against pornography and watched financial and political support evaporate.”
